Work At Home Options
Written by Vered Funk

Many people for one reason or another may arrive at a certain point in their lives to the conclusion that they prefer to work at home. Some may want to live outside the city, but are not interested in wasting their time driving for hours in heavy traffic every day just to go to work and come back home; some have little kids to attend to and so on... That doesn’t mean that they’re ready or interested in having a business of their own, and actually they don’t have to.

Many employers arrived to the conclusion (the right conclusion if you ask me) that when a job does not require the presence of a worker in a particular place (as it would be for a vendor in a shop or a receptionist in a hotel), it would be better for both employer and employee if the worker will do his work at home. It saves the expenses of maintaining a larger working space, the time money and stress for the worker to come to the office and return home and it gives the employee a feeling of more freedom, what may cause such employee to do their job more willingly and efficiently. In addition distance limitations can be easily overcome by modern technology so they’re not so much of a limitation any more.

Considering all these some companies that give certain services which are not attached to a particular place were meant from the very beginning to employ people at home (for instance, companies that offer editing or translation services or even programming services). There are some websites that are meant to connect employees that are interested in work at home jobs and employers that are interested in employees who work at home or free lancers for special projects.

Here are some links to websites that may help you if you’re looking for some kind of work that you can do at home.

  • One of the best of the websites that are dealing with work at home opportunities that I know of is Online Data Entry Jobs. Unlike its name, it gives you not only data entry jobs (that are actually affiliate work), but it also gives you a variety of other kinds of work that you can do (like participating in forums and talkbacking for payment, writing articles, proofreading and more). There is a very detailed explanation and even training when necessary for doing these jobs. This website requires onetime payment and it is guaranteed. The jobs on this website are not actual jobs with a regular monthly pay depending on one specific employer, but rather it gives you the opportunity to work with many income streams and many companies. You are free to choose what kind (or kinds) of work you want to do, what companies you want to work with, how much time you want to dedicate to your work and so on. It gives you a lot of choices and makes your work as flexible as possible. For most of the work at home possibilities you will have to know to type, so here is a website that offers you free tutorials for English typing.

  • Here is a website that tests the speed of your English typing, allows you to practice (the practice is free) and offers you a typing certification as well.

  • Here is a website that teaches touch typing in different languages for free.

  • Here is a website that offers all kinds of work at home jobs both for full time and for freelancers.

  • Here is an accredited distance learning school that offers a medical transcriptionist certification program. This program has to be paid for and we didn’t try it personally, so you better check it up very well before taking action.

  • In this website you will be able to find digital information and tools for becoming a virtual assistant. Being a virtual assistant is another possibility of work at home. That is a kind of freelance administrator and an interesting opportunity if you’re used to this kind of work but tired of working away from home and want to choose the people you work with. If you're not interested in the book you can still subscribe to the mail list and have some free information.
