Adsense is a way by which google share advertising efforts and advertising profits with website owners. This program enables website owners to put google paid ads on their website, and whenever a visitor click on such ad the website owner takes a share of google's profits for this ad. The ads are managed by google. The tracking is done by google and also the choice of which ads will appear on which webpage. The ads are placed by google on a certain website according to the relevancy of the page content to the ad. That enables google to find targeted audience that is more likely to click on the ads. 

Using the adsense program enable a website owners to earn money, even if they're not selling anything, but just giving information. For certain people who want to make money online, but don't feel that they have marketing skills this can be a very good solution. You can write literally tens of webpages (or pay someone to write them for you), on different subjects and use google ads to make profit out of them even without selling anything. 

Of course your main concern in this case would be to get as much traffic as possible to your website, so that the chances that someone will click on google ads will increase. In such a webpage make sure that there is no link going anywhere, so that there are more chances that visitors will leave your website by clicking on one of the ads. Of course you could combine it with affiliate marketing. In this case put a link to a related affiliate product. In this way you have a chance to make profit anyway.

To use google adsense you should do the very simple following steps. 

1. Choose a very general domain name (you can even use your own name), so that you can add at any time pages on any subject matter, and using any keywords you want.
2. Find a very low cost hosting (your website will be very simple so you don't need any sophisticated hosting service), or take the cheapest package from any hosting company.
3. Load a very simple template on your webhost server (you can find them for free in giveaways for internet marketers or at PLRWholesaler.com) – the template along with your content will be your website. If you don't know how to do it ask your host support. Or if you don't want to deal with building a website, get someone else to load it for you (it shouldn't be expensive, since you need a very simple website, and you will also supply the template).
4. Write content for a webpage and load it to your webhost server as well.  You can use readymade articles that you can buy in packages or you can have them for free at PLRWholesaler.com, The Internet Marketing Kit (where you have also guids for getting web traffic), or some other websites that supply such articles with PLR (private label rights).  Such articles, though, have to be changed a little beat so that you will not have a duplicate web content (what may cause Search Engines to ignore your webpage). You can also pay someone to write for you original articles at free lancer websites like elance.com.
5. Subscribe to google adsense service. Choose the format of ads you want to have (google will demonstrate for you the options), and follow the steps to the end. At the end of the process google will supply you with some html code lines that you should add to your website. You can repeat the process of choosing ads' formats several times and get different formats for different pages on your website or for different spaces that you want to feel with ads. 
6. When you choose a format, make sure that you choose a format that will better blend with your content. remember, people will come to your website for content, not for ads, and they will try to avoid the ads, but that's what your website is meant for. So make sure that your purposes are well blended with your audience purposes....
7. Place that code on your webpage. You can place no more than 3 such ads on your website, so make sure that you place them in a way that visitors will certainly notice them. Put one on the top of the page, just to make sure that it will be the first thing to be seen when loading the webpage. Place another one along the way – either on the sides, where ads can take a major space, or somewhere in the middle of the article, splitting the article if it is a long one. Place one at the bottom only if you're sure they will get to the bottom of the page.
8. There are many ways to drive traffic to your webpage, some of them you can find on my page on website traffic. Use any of the methods or any combination of them and have as many visitors as possible to your website.
